Su-30 MK2 wip16

Not much an update, but this is the exact mg pod steel plates that MK2 uses.
I’ll use the previous steel plates to convert it as a Su-27 twin seater later.
Currently still working on the hi-res interior and engine area.
Will show the updates someday.

Su-30 MK2 wip15

Speed modeling the missile!
Not much detail I can add in this stage, better to put it all in the textures later.
and with some random formation too! 😛
The list are (im not quite sure if they’re accurately modeled, since its pretty hard to find the reference pics, especially those pylons!) :
Kh-31PD
R-27AE
RVV-SD
R-73EL

The lerx area is now fixed, and added the gun pod.

Su-30 MK2 wip13

I found an inaccuracy here, I realized that the lerx area should have a much thinner line surfarce.
Its not quite visible in some angle but well, back to polygon surgery room again.
This is gonna be hard since the model is not symmetrical anymore 😦

Finally I spend a time to continue this wip.
Its a day work on the front landing gear.
Should be doing the rear gear tomorrow.

Su-30 MK2 wip9

Wireframes for anyone who interested to see. Its using a turbosmooth subdivision with 1 literation.
Been so lazy to continue this wip, currently stuck at the landing gears details at the moment.

update details.. airbrake, aerials, etc..
fuselage and wings are now connected.

Su-30 MK2 wip7

Finally the smoothing progress. This time using a turbosmooth with only 1 literation.
So far the mesh already looks pretty smooth and clean, but still plenty of tris and untidy meshes needs to be fix.
Also a testing render with some reflections in scanline render to show some beauty of it.
I think that the fuselage and main wings should have a smooth connecting each other…

Su-30 MK2 wip4

The bottom part of sukhoi.. especially the landing gear connector, are seriously giving me a headache..
It took several hours for me to study the shape, but still havent got any good results.

Su-30 MK2 wip3

3rd day progress.
I havent use/try any subdivision or meshmooth to this plane yet.. so i kept manually adding the edges to smoothen it up and make it as quad as possible.
Heres the progress so far. The rear exhaust connection is abit tricky.. I wrongly studied the curve before, but now its fixed.
Tomorrow shall do the canopy details and such.

Su-30 MK2 wip2

I totally re make this plane from scratch in poly’s (plane-extrude) modeling.
(Im not continuing the spline progress)
Its a half day work to tidy all the meshes 1 by 1.
I used FFD box, and relax modifier alot in here… quite satisfy with the results.

Su-30 MK2 wip1

Hi,
This is my new 3d wip. Im doing a Sukhoi 30 Mk2 KnAAPO version.
I usually drew a lines along the body/fuselage to memorize the profile curves for a better accuracy of modeling.
Here im using a spline-surface method for modeling. Its pretty tricky, as i tried up to 8 attempts to perfect it.
I might re-do it all over again in polygon-subdivision/meshmooth technique. Just in case im still remember how to do the polygon-subdivision methode. LOL 🙂

Thanks to Dawestsides for providing the highres blueprint.
